Michael Flynn, Donald Trump's national security adviser, has resigned from his post after less than one month in office following reports that he had misled Vice-President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russia. The resignation capped a day of mixed messages from the White House. Kellyanne Conway, senior counsellor to the president, had earlier said Mr Trump had "full confidence" in Mr Flynn, before it emerged the president was "evaluating" the adviser's position.
Kellyanne Conway found herself in the hot seat on Monday morning, fielding questions from “Good Morning America” co-host George Stephanopoulos and “Today” co-host Matt Lauer about the resignation of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Flynn’s departure was announced late Monday night following news he had misled Vice President Mike Pence and other senior White House officials about information he shared with the Russian ambassador to the United States. “In the end, it was misleading the vice president that made the situation unsustainable,” Conway told Lauer, despite the fact that she told MSNBC on Monday afternoon that Flynn enjoyed the full confidence of President Trump.
