President Donald Trump is hitting out at reports that his campaign aides were in "constant communication" with Russian intelligence officials last year, claiming leaks from US intelligence are "the real scandal". Hours after Michael Flynn, Mr Trump's national security adviser, resigned after misleading the White House over conversations with the Russian ambassador to the US, reports emerged that the contacts with Russia were far more widespread.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict should be preserved, at a press conference in Cairo on Wednesday. Guterres's comments came after he met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and a day after a senior White House official said the United States would not insist on a Palestinian state alongside Israel. "There was a complete agreement" that a resolution needs a "two state-solution and that everything must be done to preserve that possibility," Guterres said after meeting Sisi.
