US astronaut John Glenn is buried with military honors
US flags worldwide were ordered flown at half-staff on Thursday as astronaut John Glenn, the first American to orbit Earth, was laid to rest with military honors. Glenn died in December 2016 at the age of 95, after a long career that included serving as a Marine fighter pilot, a NASA astronaut and a US senator. A year earlier, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin had become the first human in space and orbited the planet.
