Right-wing radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones says he has settled a lawsuit filed by Greek yoghurt giant Chobani, despite previous claims that he would never back down in the defamation case. Mr Jones read a brief statement at the end of his radio show on Wednesday saying he had retracted previous stories and tweets about Chobani. Chobani had argued in its lawsuit that Mr Jones and his InfoWars website posted fabricated stories earlier this month that linked Chobani owner Hamdi Ulukaya and the company to a sexual assault case involving refugee children.
Nigeria's government on Thursday retracted its announcement that another Chibok girl was free, saying she was not one of the 219 whose kidnapping more than three years ago caused global outrage. The presidency said on Wednesday evening that the teenager was picked up by the military after fleeing from Boko Haram jihadists. Osinbajo is currently deputising for President Muhammadu Buhari, who is in London on medical leave.
China's foreign minister urged South Korea's new government on Thursday to remove "obstacles" to good relations amid Chinese anger at the US deployment of an anti-missile system on the Korean peninsula. Greeting South Korean presidential envoy Lee Hae-Chan in Beijing, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said bilateral relations have made immense progress over the years. "But this year we've had some undeserved setbacks," Wang said, likely in a veiled reference to the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) system that became operational earlier this month.
